The Canadian Media Research Consortium promotes economic, social, and cultural research in Canadian media and communications. Its objectives are to develop and fund applied, scholarly, and collaborative research focusing on current Canadian media issues that are of key interest to a broad set of constituencies, including policy makers, media organizations, academics, civil society groups, and the general public.
Its partner members are the York and Ryerson Joint Graduate Program in Communication and Culture, the UBC Graduate School of Journalism, and the Centre d'études sur les médias.
The Consortium has a mandate to:
- Undertake research that focuses on important economic, social, and cultural issues related to technological change in the media.
- Promote collaborative research by funding research projects, scholarships, and related activities.
- Disseminate research findings to the public by way of conferences, seminars, and publications.
